Hello World! Wow! It feels like it has been AGES since I last posted (except of course on Instagram!) Over the last several weeks I have been traveling my butt off and can finally say (with much conviction) that I am finally home to STAY! To play catch up, I decided to include some of my favorite photos from my recent travels to Mexico!
The trip started at 5 am on January 2nd as we, my boyfriend Adam and I, somehow made it to the airport half asleep. We boarded the plane promptly at 7 and passed out before take off. Once we landed in Cancun, we met my parents at the airport and loaded our stuff into the hotel van.
We stayed at the El Dorado Royale in the Mayan Riviera which was absolutely exquisite. Everything from the food to the decor to the staff to the views was perfect. The resort has a stunning beach, countless pools, 18 bars and tons of activities for the guests. My favorite daily activity was bike riding around the resort and the entertainment at night!
On Tuesday we decided to take a short trip to Tulum which was only about an hour and a half away from our resort. Tulum is an archaeological site that once served as a small Mayan village. Definitely the most stunning thing about the ruins is their location on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean. The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen with picturesque views in every direction. If you happen to follow Justin Bieber, you may have seen that he was at Tulum this past week and surprise, surprise was asked to leave by Mexican officials after attempting to climb the ruins... (Get that story HERE.)
Having visited Mexico many times before, we decided to just do one excursion on this trip and spend the rest of our days at our resort on the beach! One of my favorite things on this planet is to sit on the beach and read a good book! Over vacation I read, "At The Water's Edge" by Sara Gruen, "Room" by Emma Donoghue, and started "Orange Is The New Black" by Piper Kerman. Out of all three I would definitely have to say that Room was my favorite and can not wait to see the movie!
One of the best parts of the El Dorado Royale by far was the food. They had tons of restaurants to choose from and plenty of vegetarian and pescetarian options which I was thrilled about. In addition, they were super accomodating with allergies and even had a gluten-free section at the buffet each morning. As a total foodie and a daughter of foodies, we were all in agreement that the food we experienced at the El Dorado Royale was amongst the best of any all inclusive resort we had ever tasted.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and well, here I am back at my desk. I've got some big plans for 2016 and am excited to share with you all of the creative things in store for She Well this year! Happy Tuesday :)
