Happy March 1st everyone! After a long Winter, I am greeting Spring with open arms! The official first day of Spring is not until March 20th, but with a 65 degree day and sunshine in DC today, I have declared today the first official day of MY Spring!
The day started with a morning full of catch-up work. Around lunch time I decided to run the National Mall. Although I can’t say that I love to run, I do love to spend time outdoors so running outside is something that I usually take up when the weather gets nice. Miraculously I ran 6 miles today. As someone who doesn’t consider herself a runner, I sure was proud of myself (must be all those stairs I've been climbing!)
Once I got home I showered, made a Trader Joe’s Mahi Mahi burger and settled down for an afternoon of work. Now that I spend so much time working from home, I decided to give my room a huge makeover. Since my parents are moving out of the house I grew up in, now is a perfect time for me to save some money and shop at home!
One of the newest additions to my desk is a Himalayan salt lamp. I know what you’re thinking.. but seriously I am totally smitten. Aside from giving off a beautiful, warm light, Himalayan salt lamps are used to balance ions. What do I mean by that? Well, electronic devices and things like air pollution give off positive ions which tend to suck the energy out of our bodies and make us sick. Negative ions, such as Himalayan salt, do the opposite. These ions release healing energy into the air, stimulating our bodies flow of oxygen to the brain, altering our mood and effecting our body's overall frequency.
So how does it work, you ask? Well, when the light turns on the bulb heats up the crystal which gives off ionizing effects. However, not Himalayan salt lamps are created equal. Be sure to check out the label and make sure that it says 100% pure, food grade Himalayan sea salt before purchasing.
Find Himalayan salt lamps on Amazon or places like Bed, Bath & Beyond.
