10 Ways To Get Out Of The "Post-Winter Slump"


We all know what it feels like. The moment you realize that the oversized sweater and leggings you've been living in just won't cut it anymore. While Netflix and pizza were your friend all winter long, it's time to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring! So without further ado, here are some tips to get your mind & body springing ahead and out of that post-winter slump!

Head To Class - Commit yourself to a workout class and start attending a few days a week. Workout classes create a sense of community and healthy competition. You are more likely to push yourself if you are surrounded by other people who are working just as hard as you. Plus, working out gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy. 

Make Weekday Plans - To help your week go by faster, make weekday plans. Meet up with a friend to catch up over dinner, a bottle of wine or a your favorite movie. 

Take Walks - Now that it is staying lighter for longer, use those hours of sunshine to take post-work or school walks. If you live relatively close to where you work, choose to walk instead of drive.

Clean Out Your Cupboard - Get rid of all the nasty foods that you’ve been hoarding all winter long! You know… that pint of ice cream in the freezer, the Reese’s in your bedside table, the chocolate chip cookies in your cabinet?! While these foods may taste amazing, in the end they are totally not worth it! My advice? Leave the junk at the store. 

Challenge Yourself - Find little ways to challenge yourself each day. Whether it’s taking the stairs instead of the escalator or getting better at remembering peoples names, these little challenges will help you to feel more confident and successful.

Call The People You Love - Stop hibernating in your bed and use your free time to call your friends and family. Check up on people that you love, because you know you gotta give love to get it!

Infuse Your Water - I know this is weird, but it totally works! Infuse your water with lemon, cucumber, mint, pineapple, you name it! Infused water always makes me feel like I’m on a little vacation. Plus, with water tasting so good you are bound to drink way more of it!

Buy The Book - Go to the bookstore (or library) and get that book that you’ve been dying to read. Books are such a wonderful way to escape from the worries of day to day life and stimulate the mind, especially before bed.

Ditch The Netflix - While binging on shows may be have been your way of surviving the winter, stop! There are so many other wonderful things to do with your time like calling a friend, reading a book, taking a walk and pretty much anything else on this list…

Stop Indulging In Comfort Foods - During the winter we tend to eat higher calorie meals and indulge in foods we know will bring us comfort. Our bodies have been living under chunky sweaters and scarfs all winter so who really cares what we eat…right? Newsflash! It’s almost spring! Ditch the comfort foods and start indulging in healthy, clean food!
