Happy Holidays everyone! In celebration of all the festivity going on, I thought I'd share a few tips to help you stay on track this holiday season! + Drink Up - Choose your beverages carefully and make sure to drink plenty of water. Water will help you to stay both hydrated and full throughout the day. A bonus? It will keep that holiday party hangover far, far away.
+ Don’t Be a Grazer - You’re not a reindeer so why be grazer?! Grazing a food spread can be dangerous because it is easy to lose track of how much you are actually eating, especially after a few drinks! Moral of the story? Put your food on a plate!
+ Bake Healthy - Let’s face it, baked goods are loaded with calories. Just to give you an example, an average bakery cupcake contains 585 calories and 20 grams of fat.. uh ew?! So do yourself a favor and look for healthier alternatives. There are so many wonderful, lightened up baking recipes out there that contain half the amount of fat and sugar! If you are looking for some ideas check out my Healthy Christmas Board on Pinterest.
+ Bring Your Own Dish - If you are worried about having healthy options to eat at a party or gathering, then volunteer to make something! Choose a recipe off Pinterest or my website (hehe) and bring it on over!
+ Be Adamant About Your Exercise Routine - Now more than ever it is important that you rev up your engine and make sure you get enough exercise. Exercising will boost your spirits, calm your stress and burn off those sugar cookie and gingerbread latte cals!
+ Eat Before You Go - I Always try to eat a big green salad before I go to a party where I know there will be a bunch of tempting unhealthy foods! By eating a healthy meal before you leave the house, you will be less likely to stuff your face with unhealthy food!
+ Choose Your Alcohol Wisely - It can be easy to get carried away during the Holidays, especially when you are surrounded by family, friends and co-workers! However, remember that the more you drink, the more likely you are to fall off track (in more ways than one!)
+ Celebrate with a Workout - Ok, so this is a bit strange, but I love working out on holidays! There is something so fun about going to a fitness class, hitting the gym or doing an at home workout, knowing that later that day you can sit back, relax and enjoy.
+ Choose Take-Aways Wisely - Instead of bringing home a bunch of desserts, opt to take the vegetable dishes or salad instead! If you do get stuck with a bunch of desserts, freeze them!
+ Cut The Reigns Some Slack - Give yourself a break. If you cave in and eat that second helping of dessert, so what? It's not the end of the world, just try not to make a habit of it! You should be able to treat yourself, just stay in control and for Pete's sake enjoy it!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
